To Review Or Not To Review

A motion to take another look at Chatham-Kent’s ward boundaries will be before Chatham-Kent council tonight, but whether or not it is actually discussed remains to be seen.

The issue was last discussed in late April with a proposal raised by North Kent representative Rhonda Jubenville to hire a consultant to carry out a review of council size and wards. Members ended up in a tie vote and the motion failed.

The issue is back on the agenda tonight with a motion to only look at potential ward realignment.

However, a note from administration points out that since Jubenville did not vote on the prevailing side of the April 29th motion, she cannot bring this motion to the floor. However, if another councillor who voted on the “no” side last time were to bring it forward tonight, the issue could be raised again.
