Members of Chatham-Kent Council unanimously approved awarding $375,000 to 66 groups at their meeting Monday night, including 44 events and 22 community projects from a total of 80 applications.
Significant events receiving funding this year include Chatham-Kent Crowfest, Wallaceburg Antique Motor and Boat Outing (WAMBO), the Thamesville Threshing Festival, RetroFest, and the Dresden Night Market.
Several Wallaceburg-based groups receiving funding as well, including the Wallaceburg and District Council for the Arts, E.L.F. (Everyone’s Little Friend) Wallaceburg, the Wallaceburg Senior Citizens Club, and Wallaceburg Concert Band.
Council also updated the eligibility requirements for Significant Events grants, now requiring a minimum attendance of 5,000 people for single-day or consecutive-day events, reflecting the higher volume of applications this year.
