Tornado Confirmed East Of Mooretown

A storm that caused damage east of Mooretown has been confirmed as a low-level tornado.

Western University’s Northern Tornadoes Project said a ground and drone survey of the damage was completed following the storm on August 29 in Payne, Ontario.

The survey concluded that the damage was a result of an EF0 tornado with an estimated maximum wind speed of 125 km/h. The track length of the tornado was 4.58 km, with a maximum path width of 250 m.

No injuries were reported but the storm caused damage to barns and trees. Surveyors also found a narrow swath of crop damage along the tornado’s track.
