Toronto Man Charged in Chatham Assault

Charges have been laid after a domestic incident in Chatham.

Officers responded to a Fifth Street property late Thursday night and say a man was seen leaving the building.

The accused allegedly denied his identity when confronted by police.

Investigators say a man and woman got into an argument when the man allegedly pinned the woman to the floor and assaulted her, causing injury to her face and head.

The 25-year-old Toronto man has now been charged with obstructing a police officer, assault, and two counts of assault causing bodily harm.

The accused was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
