Bell Canada officials will be inspecting a tower in downtown Chatham after a dangerous act of vandalism.
Police were called to the Centre Street compound around 7 Tuesday evening when a man was spotted climbing the tower and causing some damage.
However Chatham-Kent Police spokesperson Renee Cowell says while a police negotiator was trying to diffuse the situation above, a spectator was causing problems on the ground.
“You can appreciate with the news spreading that a man had climbed the Bell tower, a large crowed gathered in downtown Chatham last night” says Cowell. “We could like to thank those who did respect our yellow police tape perimeter. Unfortunately one woman was taken into custody and charged with obstruct police.”
The 52-year old climber has been charged with break and enter and mischief.
