Currently there is no stop signs on McNaughton and that is an issue that has the Councillor concerned, especially with a school in close proximity.
Adam Sullo who is with the Municipality says they have been doing studies of the intersection but does not feel that the traffic flow meets the standards for a 4 way stop or definitely a stop light. Sullo says yes traffic has increased over the last 5 years and he attributes that to the school that is located near by. But it is that school and the children’s safety that has Councillor Myers bringing the issue before council.
Sullo says there are portions of the city that have traffic control systems like 4 way stops and traffic lights in place and they actually impede traffic and he says many times going against MTO standards does that and it is something they do not want to do.
Both Sullo and Myers do agree that public consultation on the issue is needed.
