Traffic Stop Nets Drugs

A traffic stop in Chatham has led to charges for one man, and a drug seizure for police.

Officers pulled over a vehicle on Victoria Avenue yesterday afternoon, but police say when the driver got out, he tossed something under the car.

A black pouch was found with suspected fentanyl, digital scales, and a number of small plastic bags.

The suspect was also found carrying marijuana and cash.

Police say the total value of the drugs is about $18,500.

A 31-year-old is now facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and having care and control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available.
