Municipal officials will be marking Trans Awareness Week today.
A special flag raising ceremony is being held at the Civic Centre over the noon hour.
Held each year during the second week of November, Transgender Awareness Week helps to raise the visibility about transgender people and address issues members of the community face.
The week leads up to Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20th, honouring the memory of transgender people whose lives have been lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.
