The Chatham-Kent YMCA is celebrating a provincial grant that will go towards facility upgrades.
The local YMCA was first awarded the $89,100 capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation in September 2023.
The funds will help the YMCA complete upgrades and repairs to the pool deck cubbies, floor tiles, and back wall of the indoor pool area at the Chatham facility.
“Swimmers will find a more comfortable environment at the Chatham-Kent YMCA – allowing for safe and fun participation in swimming lessons, parent and tot swim, lane swim, aquafit, and all types of pool activities,” Andrew Lockie, the CEO of YMCA of Southwestern Ontario, in a news release.
The funds will also be used to support the purchase of new lifeguard chairs, pool deck benches, a pool vacuum, aquafit dumbbells, and youth lifejackets.
