Fire officials are investigating the cause of a blaze at a home in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue responded to the fire at 4 Lorne Ave. just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the two-storey home.
Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire and no injuries were reported. Unfortunately, two cats perished in the blaze.
Firefighters and officers with the Chatham-Kent Police Service remained at the scene into the afternoon as an investigation into the cause was conducted.
An estimated cost of the damages has not been released.
