Two Charged With Stunt Driving On 401

A pair of lead-foot drivers are facing charges for excessive speeding on Highway 401 over the Canada Day weekend

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers stopped a vehicle in the eastbound lanes of the highway on Friday at around 8:40 a.m. in Chatham-Kent, after it was clocked travelling more than 60 km/h over the posted 100 km/h speed limit.

Then on Monday at around 12:14 a.m., another vehicle was stopped in the westbound lanes in CK, travelling more than 65 km/h over the speed limit.

As a result, a 56-year-old Glencoe resident and a 20-year-old resident of Henrico, Virginia are both charged with stunt driving. The American driver is additionally charged with failing to surrender their licence.

Both drivers were also issued a 30-day driver’s licence suspension and their vehicles will be impounded for seven days.
