Two More CK Lives Lost to COVID-19

Another tragic day of the pandemic in Chatham-Kent with two more deaths caused by COVID-19.

Public Health officials say two women, both in their 90s, succumbed to the virus at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

38 Chatham-Kent residents have now lost their lives to the virus since March 2020, four in the last week alone.

The current seven-day rolling average case count now sits at 68 per day with another 89 confirmed infections being reported today.

There are 14 active outbreaks across the municipality, five linked to group homes, eight long term care and retirement homes, and the dialysis unit at CKHA.

32 COVID patients are being treated at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance today. Hospital officials say of those 32, 19 are being treated primarily for COVID-19, rather than admitted with the virus.

There are four patients with COVID being treated in intensive care and three others in the hospital’s progressive care unit, none of whom have been vaccinated against the virus.
