Two new COVID outbreaks have been declared in Chatham-Kent.
Public Health’s daily update includes 45 new cases since the last report on Friday. Combined with 32 cases resolved, the number of active infections has risen to 126.
One of the new outbreaks is at Dresden Area Central School, with two positive cases. Another workplace outbreak has also been declared with a total of three cases so far, however the location of the business has not been publicly released.
The outbreak linked to Praise Fellowship Church in Chatham has risen to 24 total cases since it was first declared on September 10th. There are still just three cases linked to the outbreak at CKHA’s rehab unit.
15 COVID patients are being treated at the Health Alliance, five of whom are in the ICU.
Occupancy of the intensive care unit has dropped to just 50% after reaching full capacity last week.
The hospital’s medical, surgical, and critical care beds are sitting at 100% capacity.
Meantime the number of cases of COVID in local schools continues to rise.
Four COVID advisories were sent to families at Tecumseh Public School in Chatham between September 12th and the 18th about confirmed cases and subsequent contact tracing.
In all, there are nine Chatham-Kent schools within the Lambton Kent board with at least one confirmed case.
At the St Clair Catholic District School Board, two classes at St Angela Merici have been sent home to quarantine in connection with one positive case identified on Friday.
There is also still just one confirmed cases at St Anne Catholic School in Blenheim.
