More support is on the way for pet owners in Chatham-Kent.

Two new veterinary clinics have opened their doors in Chatham, easing the strain on existing vet services.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held recently for the Maple City Animal Hospital. Owned by Dr. Angela Bell and Dr. Michael Fife, the clinic opened its doors on Richmond Street in late April. This is the third practice for Dr. Fife, who first opened the Fife Animal Hospital on Richmond Street before joining forces at the Egan Fife Animal Hospital on Heritage Road.

The Thames Valley Animal Hospital on Irwin Street in Chatham is now accepting new clients with a grand opening slated for later this month. Owner and Chief Veterinarian Dr. Abdul Gafoor Veetil says the goal is to provide a wide range of services, providing exceptional, affordable, and accessible care for pets and their owners.

Neither of the new clinics will provide much-needed 24-hour emergency care. Dr. Veetil says his clinic offers extended hours until 7pm during the week and weekend appointments. Maple City Animal Hospital operates Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm.
