Two Teens Assaulted In Chatham Park

Charges have been laid after two teenagers were assaulted by a group of youths in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to Taylor Park on King Street East at around 8:30 p.m. on April 28, after two 13-year-olds were confronted by a group of youths who began to harass them. When the two teens attempted to distance themselves from the group, one was physically assaulted while the other was physically restrained.

Officers arrived at the scene to find one of the victims visibly upset, with minor physical injuries.

A 15-year-old Chatham girl turned herself in at police headquarters on Tuesday in connection with the incident. She was later released with a July court date.

Police have not released information on what charges the youth is facing or if officers are looking for additional suspects.
