What started as a well-being check lead to charges for a pair of Wallaceburg residents.
Just before 10 o’clock Wednesday morning, Chatham-Kent Police responded to a call about a woman sleeping in the back of a commercial property on Richmond Street in Chatham.
Officers arrived to find a man and woman together in the back lot, both of whom gave police fake names.
Further investigation provided authorities with the suspects’ proper names, and showed the man was bound by a probation order banning him from associating with the woman.
The 39-year-old man was arrested for obstructing a peace officer and failing to comply with a probation order. The 45-year-old woman is facing charges of obstructing a peace officer and facilitating a breach of probation order.
Both were taken to police headquarters. The man was held for a bail hearing, while the woman was released with conditions and will be back in court next month.
