Union Gas is working on another pipeline project.
After last year’s Panhandle Expansion, Union Gas is planning two new pipelines – one east of Dresden, and one near Dover Centre.
District Manager Sean Collier says the lines will serve Chatham-Kent’s growing greenhouse industry.
“Much of the use of natural gas that will run through these pipes will be for the greenhouse industry,” Collier explains. “But the city was also a key player in bringing this project forward and supporting the agricultural community, and other commercial and industrial clients that will benefit from this too with grain drying and other agricultural opportunities.”
The Chatham-Kent Rural Pipeline Expansion Project is expected to cost $23-million dollars, including the construction and distribution projects.
Pending approval from the Ontario Energy Board, construction will start in spring 2019.
