The agency kicked off the 2017 fundraising campaign last night, with a goal of $1,725,000.
Chair Elizabeth Downey-Sunnen says a lot of thought went into setting the target.
“We got to the number looking at the absolute bare minimum that we need to run successful programming, and also thinking that if we beat this goal, then that’s even better”, explains Downey-Sunnen.
The United Way has struggled to meet its campaign goals over the last few years, and have set the bar a little lower this year to reflect the municipality’s economic challenges.
Downey-Sunnen says she has a lot of work ahead of her.
“My plans for the next three months include not really sleeping, being super enthusiastic, and raising $1.725 million dollars”, says Downey-Sunnen.
