They’ve passed the $1.5-million mark and are close to their nearly $2-million goal.
The United Way helps to support community organizations, and Resource Development Director Tom Slager says it’s up to a team of volunteers to decide where the money goes:
“Once we have the funds raised there’s a volunteer committee, and they essentially reviews grant applications almost,” says Slager. “They break up into teams and they each get 3-5 programs that they are are supposed to research and they become their champions.”
The campaign ends on the 20th, and that’s when they’ll release their fundraising report.
