United Way Goes High Tech

The United Way of Chatham-Kent is trying out new ways to help local residents give.

The organization now has a mobile giving kiosk, similar to a debit machine, which allows people to donate either with their credit or debit card.

“There’s text to donate, or apps and all that sort of thing, so we were looking at new ways  new areas or different areas, different people, and that’s what people want, choice.  we’ve got these eight unignorable issues, social isolation, mental health and hunger. We’re able to program it so that if you want your money go toward mental health, you can select that and we’ll apply it to the mental health programs we’re supporting.”

The kiosk will be in the front lobby of our studios for the next week or so, but Slager says they’re looking for more businesses or event organizers to jump on board as well.
