United Way Pivots

The United Way of Chatham-Kent is changing in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rather than its traditional fundraising campaign, the organization is working on a community-wide movement stretching across the municipality, dubbed ‘United We Can, Together We Will.”

“This movement is about United Way reconnecting with the community in a really powerful way,” says Patricia Peters, Director of Resource Development at United Way of Chatham Kent. “No matter who (or where) you are – you can join in because you have the power to make a difference within your own neighbourhood.”

The agency is using a community- by-community approach to fundraising, with the dollars raised in any given area of Chatham-Kent staying there.

It’s also inviting area residents to take part in a number of simple ways, such as performing random acts of kindness, supporting small businesses, creating your own fundraising, and of course donating to the cause.

The United Way supports dozens of member agencies across Chatham-Kent, providing services to one in four people in the community.
