United Way Surpasses its Goal

The United Way of Chatham-Kent has not only met, but exceeded its fundraising goal for the year.

The 2018 campaign kicked off back in September with a target of $1,559,000.

This morning, officials announced the total amount raised is $1,565,140.

“From all of the volunteers, the cabinet members, staff and of course the donors, nothing is possible without all of them,” says campaign chair Caterina Dawson. “I have been able to see and experience so much goodness in our community over the past few months.  It has truly been an amazing experience for me personally, but it’s really awesome to know that our efforts will go to help so many people in Chatham-Kent.”

It’s a milestone for the organization, the first campaign under new CEO Steve Pratt.

“I’d like to thank the community for your generous contributions of time, skills and donations.  You are essential in helping in to with the fight for the health, education and financial stability of everyone in our community.  Today marks a transition to new and innovative ways of doing things.  To all of Chatham-Kent, I would like you to know that United Way is truly working for you.”

The organization also unveiled a new volunteer matching website at its touchdown event at the Links of Kent this morning, donated by Gigit, along with a new website. Both are expected to go live later this month.
