A Chatham man is facing over a dozen charges after being spotted driving without a license over the weekend. On Saturday afternoon, a Chatham-Kent Police officer was alerted to an unauthorized license plate by the cruiser’s onboard plate reader and the driver identified as an unlicensed 31-year-old man.

The officer tried to pull the driver over, but the suspect vehicle sped off. However, the officer decided against given chase, instead heading to an area where they believed the accused would go. The suspect was found hiding behind a local business and taken into custody without incident.

The man has been charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and uttering threats to kill.

Authorities say the man was also wanted on bail for a previous incident, facing 21 criminal charges, including uttering death threats, uttering threats to destroy property, and assault with a weapon, among other offences.
