Up to 42 Active COVID Cases in CK

Another day, another rise in COVID statistics in Chatham-Kent and across Ontario.

According to Public Health, there are now 42 active cases of the virus locally with nine new infections and three resolved.

10 COVID patients are being treated at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, including two in the ICU, none of whom are fully vaccinated.

Across Ontario, there are 660 new cases being reported today. Hospitals province-wide are treating 283 COVID patients, plus another 161 in intensive care.

Chatham-Kent’s vaccination numbers are improving. There was an overwhelming turnout at a pop-up clinic at the Bothwell Library, so much so that Public Health ran out of vaccine.

Overall, public health administered 205 first doses on Tuesday, and 270 second shots.

Another pop-up clinic is planned for Memorial Arena in Chatham on Thursday from 10am to 4pm for anyone born in 2009 or earlier.

77% of Chatham-Kent’s population 12 and older have now received at least one dose of COVID vaccine, while 70% are fully vaccinated with both shots.
