Officials say they don’t believe a motel fire in Chatham is suspicious.
Crews were called to the Flamingo Motel on Grand Avenue East shortly before 6 on Monday evening when flames erupted from one of the units.
No one was hurt and thanks to the quick action of fire fighters, the fire was contained to that unit.
Officials say it seems the blaze started in the unit’s sleeping area, but investigators haven’t been able to pinpoint the exact cause of the blaze due to the extensive damage in the room.
Damage is pegged at $200,000, with double that amount of property saved.
