Chatham-Kent Police have confirmed a woman has died as a result of Sunday’s collision between a VIA Rail train and a passenger vehicle.
Authorities say a woman was heading south on Keil Drive around 2:30 yesterday afternoon when she crossed the railway tracks and was hit by an eastbound train.
Emergency crews pulled the 54-year-old driver from the vehicle – she was then taken to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance where she succumbed to her injuries.
The victim’s name has not been released out of respect for the family.
Meantime, the traffic unit is continuing its investigation into the crash.
