Charges have been laid after a Ridgetown woman allegedly crashed her vehicle into her partner’s garage and chased him inside.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a disturbance at a Ridge Line home in Ridgetown just before 4 a.m. on Friday after a vehicle was rammed into a garage door. A man told police that his partner was pursuing him inside his home following the collision.

When officers arrived they noticed that the woman was showing signs of impairment including slurred speech and an odor of alcohol. An empty container of alcohol was also allegedly found in her vehicle.

As a result, a 32-year-old Ridgetown woman was arrested and is now charged with impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit, dangerous driving, and mischief over $5,000. She was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and her vehicle will be impounded for seven days.

The accused was later released with conditions and a future court date.
