Vehicle Theft Leads To Foot Chase

A 34 year old man of no fixed address has been charged in connection with the theft of a pickup truck earlier this week.

A Chatham-Kent Police officer spotted the red Ford F 150 Tuesday in the area of Grand Avenue and Elizabeth and the chase was on.

The driver sped up and police terminated the pursuit.

A short while later the driver parked on the front lawn of a residence but then lost a foot race.

Police say a search turned up meth, fentanyl, cash and a knife.

The charges include possession of property obtained by crime over 5.000, flight from police, dangerous operation of a vehicle and 2 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking of trafficking. 

He was held pending a bail hearing.
