SUMMARY:The Colour of Emotion: Vicki McFarland
DESCRIPTION:The Colour of Emotion: Vicki McFarland\nJanuary 18 – March 4\, 2023\nReception ARTcrawl\, February 10 | 6:00 – 10:00 PM\nVicki McFarland explores\, with her unusual pouring technique\, a dialogue with colours\, shapes\, and angles. Intuitive\, by nature\, she creates work that evokes an emotional response in her viewers. She is often guided by her choice of music in her studio. We can readily see the six elements of music\, rhythm\, dynamics\, melody (the theme) tone\, texture and form that are masterfully interpreted on her canvasses. Typically\, she will pick a song and let the rhythm become part of the design process.\nArtist Talk and Live Painting Demonstration | February 11 | 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM | Studio Two\, The Cultural Centre\nJoin us for an exciting “live” painting demonstration as Vicki works to music on a large-scale canvas. The artist embraces the boundless freedom of letting go of preconceived ideas\, allowing intuition to dictate the process. She describes this as “pouring her heart out”. One can readily see the mastery she has achieved. An artist discussion will follow. Register by calling 519.360.1998 or online at www.tagartspace.com\n\nARTspace is located at 165½ King Street West in downtown Chatham and is open from 12 pm to 5 pm Wednesday through Saturday. SUMMARY:Prism of Perception: Tracy Root - Wednesday to Saturday
DESCRIPTION:Prism of Perception\nTracy Root\nMarch 30 – May 14\, 2022\nOpening Reception: April 1st\, 7-9 PM\nTracy Root’s new exhibition Prism of Perception presents work accomplished during the isolation of the recent pandemic lockdowns. It’s not surprising then\, that her paintings are often very personal\, delving into feelings of longing\, loss\, and acceptance while pursuing a deep spiritual connection with the natural world.\nCreating a visual language all her own\, Root’s highly developed painting style perceives the world as a kaleidoscope of geometric patterns\, compositional movement\, and colour. Interior and exterior worlds collide in these inviting canvases filled with memory and imagination.\nAn established member of the London art scene for many years\, these paintings represent the first group of work completed as a new member of the Chatham-Kent community.\nWe’re very excited to welcome her here!\nThis is a family-friendly exhibition\, and admission is free.\nARTspace is open Wednesday through Saturday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.\nFor more information please our website at www.tagartspace.com

SUMMARY:A Small Good Thing
DESCRIPTION:A Small Good Thing\nMichaela Lucio\nFebruary 16 – March 26\, 2022\nTime: 12 PM – 5 PM\nFleeting moments and ghostly memories\, all fade away without mindful attention. ‘A Small Good Thing’ dives into an imagined history dreamed from photographs out-of family albums\, predominantly from the childhood of the artist’s mother. Considering the digital revolution’s impact on families and the fragility of memory\, this exhibition looks to slow down and explore the complicated tenderness of family life. Like a wisp of air\, charged with emotion\, it is all about the small good things.\nThis is a family-friendly exhibition and admission is free. Masks\, social distancing and provision of contact information are required for all visitors.\nQR code proof of vaccination with valid ID required only at gallery events such as openings and programs in line with current government regulations and by-laws.\nFor more information please visit www.tagartspace.com or www.chatham-kent.ca/TAG
