An investigation remains ongoing nearly a month after a Windsor man with a history of violent crime was shot and killed in Erie Beach.
The body of 40-year-old Michael Allard was discovered after he suffered a gunshot wound at a residence on Towanda Boulevard on March 5.
Investigators with the Chatham-Kent Police Service initially called the death suspicious but announced two days later that it was being investigated as a homicide.
According to a report published by the Windsor Star, Allard was known to police due to his lengthy criminal record and had previously been convicted for multiple violent robberies that took place in 2010, 2013, and 2015. He had also been convicted on charges of aggravated assault, vehicle theft, fraud, drug trafficking, and benefitting from prostitution, among other offences.
As well, the notorious Windsor resident was the subject of a province-wide arrest warrant after the shooting of a 65-year-old man in Kitchener on September 22, 2022. He was arrested in Thunder Bay in connection to the shooting in January 2023, however, the current status of the case was not immediately available.
No arrests have been made in connection to Allard’s death and police have not released any information about potential suspects.
Authorities said on Tuesday that there have been no new developments in the investigation that can be released, but anyone with information is asked to come forward.
Those with information or surveillance footage that could assist investigators are asked to contact Detective Cole Abbott at colea@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 ext. 80262. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
