Organizers of an annual fundraiser walk are hoping to surpass the success of their last event by raising even more money to help those living with dementia.
The Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent (ASCK) is holding this year’s Walk for Alzheimer’s at Kingston Park in Chatham on May 27. The walk will wrap up with live entertainment, vendors, food, games, a photo booth, live painting, and more
Weekly walks will also be held leading up to the event in Wallaceburg, Blenheim and Tilbury.
This year the organization is challenging local businesses, long-term care homes and retirement homes to register a team for the walk, in an effort to raise funds. The organization that raises the most money will win the inaugural “Heart & Sole Award.”
The annual Dawn Butler Memorial Awards will also be presented to the top individual and team fundraisers.
After surpassing last year’s goal of $55,000, the Alzheimer Society is hoping to do it again with the new fundraising goal set at $60,000.
