Success at the Wallaceburg Bike Rodeo is leading to more safety events for Chatham-Kent.

The Super Summer Safety event is the next segment to help keep children safe and encourage them to follow bike, scooter, roller blade and skateboard safety. Arrangements have been made to hand out coupons for a sweet treat to children found riding/rolling safely by the Chatham-Kent Police Services.

The rodeo held on June 18 was a huge success with 53 children in attendance and over 40 prizes given away including two grand prizes of a new bike and scooter.

The Wallaceburg Bike Rodeo Committee introduced several new initiatives this year, the most notable being the watermelon helmet drop demonstrating how a helmet can save one’s life.

Thanks to a last minute boost from The Right Connection, a bike exchange program was also created for the rodeo to help make sure that every child had a safe and reliable bike that fit them properly.

The Wallaceburg Bike Rodeo would like to thank their host The Knights of Pythias and their partners Chatham-Kent Police Services, Chatham-Kent Public Library Wallaceburg Branch, Wallaceburg Biking Community, and all of the hardworking volunteers for their assistance in the success of this event.
