A local dancer will be packing her bags and heading overseas next spring.
Alana Paolone, a student at the Cornell School of Dance, recently placed sixed at the Irish Dance national championships in Calgary and earning herself a spot in the world championships being held in Ireland.
But the 11-year-old says there’s a lot of work to do between now and then.
“It’s a lot of practicing, but before the Worlds there’s another major,” Paolone says. “You practice for that major and then when you place there, you keep moving on until the Worlds.”
The Wallaceburg girl has been dancing since she was three, and says she loves the challenge.
The 50th annual World Irish Dancing Championships take place in Belfast April 10th to the 17th.
