Wallaceburg Hospital Power Plant “On Time and On Budget”

Crews at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance are putting the finishing touches on the roof at the new power plant at the Wallaceburg hospital.

Board chair Greg Aarssen says $7.3 million project is coming along nicely.

“I’m happy to say that project continues to progress very well, it’s on time, it’s on budget,” Aarssen says. “The latest work that’s being done right now is the completion of the roofing section, prior to enclosing the building.”

Ground was broken at site last October with plans for the work to be done this coming fall.

“We are expecting it still to be completed by November of this year. This is one of the phases of several phases to provide enhanced services to the people of Wallaceburg under our mantra of one hospital, two site.”

Aarssen says the Health Alliance is still in talks with the province over the next phase of the hospital’s revitalization plans and future funding.

Future plans include maintaining a 24-hour emergency department, adding five inpatient beds, and expanding ambulatory care, diagnostic imaging, and lab services.
