A Wallaceburg man is facing charges following a traffic stop in Sarnia.
Last Friday morning, Sarnia Police officers spotted a white SUV committing a traffic infraction. As the suspect vehicle pulled into a parking lot on Murphy Road, authorities say a passenger threw an object into the back seat, and the rear occupant appeared to lie down in an attempt to conceal it.
Two passengers in the vehicle, a Hamilton woman and a Wallaceburg man, were arrested, but as the accused were being removed from the vehicle, police spotted a baseball bat with jagged metal pieces embedded in it.
Further investigation showed the item thrown into the back seat was an open beer can.
The driver, a 48-year-old Sarnia woman was given tickets for Highway Traffic Act and Liquor License Control Act offences.
The 31-year-old Hamilton woman was held for a bail hearing on outstanding warrants.
The 30-year-old Wallaceburg man was also arrested on outstanding warrants, and issued additional charges of possession of a dangerous weapon, two counts of failing to comply with a release order, and four counts of failing to comply with probation orders.
