Wallaceburg Man Charged In $15K Meth Bust

A 60-year-old man is facing charges after police seized around $15,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine in Wallaceburg.

Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police Street Crimes Unit and the Chatham-Kent Police Service found the drugs after executing a search warrant at a Fraser Street address on July 21.

As a result, a 60-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with an undertaking. He remains in custody following a bail hearing.

The OPP said the drug bust was the result of continued investigations, which were initiated in response to the state of emergency declared by Walpole Island First Nation due to the ongoing drug epidemic that has resulted in numerous opioid-related overdoses.
