A Wallaceburg man accused of killing his wife just over a year ago has been found not criminally responsible for her death.
The 96-year-old, whose name is covered under a publication ban to protect the victim’s identity, was arrested after allegedly strangling his wife in their home the morning of December 26th, 2020.
Psychiatric experts testified that the accused suffers from schizophrenia, and while he was fit to stand trial, he was not criminally responsible for his actions.
The man is now being sent to the Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care in St. Thomas for a risk assessment by the Ontario Review Board to determine next steps.
