On April 20th, Dylan Depooter came across a vehicle that had crashed in a ditch on Border Road near Swan Line, and was lying on its roof, submerged in water.
Chatham-Kent Police say Depooter and the first officers on the scene were able to free the passenger by cutting her seatbelt.
They then removed the driver from the vehicle, started CPR, and waited for EMS and fire to arrive. The driver last succumbed to her injuries.
Depooter recently received a Board Citation from the Police Services Board. The three officers on the scene will be recognized at a form CKPS Awards Banquet in the fall.
