Wallaceburg Prepares For The 43rd Annual Terry Fox Run

Local residents will be lacing up their shoes to take part in the 43rd annual Terry Fox Run in Wallaceburg this weekend.

The event kicks off on Sunday with registration beginning at 9 a.m. and the 10 km walk beginning at 10 a.m. at the fountain in Civic Square Park.

Event organizer Moira Eggett says everyone will be able participate, regardless of their abilities.

“I know whenever I’ve talked to people over the years, they will say back to me, ‘I don’t run.’ So just take that out and [just call it] the Terry Fox Event. You don’t even have to go 5K, you can do 1K, it does not matter,” she said. “It’s [about] participation and comradery and support.”

Last year’s local Terry Fox Run raised roughly $20,000 to support cancer research.

Other communities across Chatham-Kent will also be holding their own Terry Fox Run on Sunday including Blenheim, Dresden, and Tilbury.
