Wallaceburg Schools Reopen Amid Boil Water Advisory

Students at schools across Wallaceburg will be back in the classroom today as a boil water advisory remains in place.

Schools in both the St Clair Catholic and Lambton Kent District School Boards were shut down Wednesday after a water main break and subsequent boil water order from Public Health.

All drinking fountains and water bottle filling stations have been closed and bagged off. Washrooms are once again fully operational.

There will be no drinking water available in schools for the duration of the advisory. School board officials say bottled water will be handed out to staff and students as needed, but students are also encouraged to bring their own bottle of water with them.

Meanwhile, residents on the Wallaceburg Distribution System of the municipal water supply are asked to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before domestic use for things like drinking, washing food, brushing teeth, or making formula.

The advisory will remain in place until CK Public Health receives two positive results from samples taken 24 hours apart.
