An artistic collaboration between Indigenous artists and Wallaceburg students will be unveiled next week.

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board will unveil new art installations on Monday at Holy Family Catholic School, Christ the King Catholic School, and St. Elizabeth Catholic School in Wallaceburg, which are inspired by the unique themes and identities of each school.

The art installations were co-created by local students and artists Cedric Isaac of Bkejwanong Territory, John Williams of Aamjiwnaang First Nation, and Moses Lunham of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation.

“These collaborative pieces are a powerful reflection of our commitment to truth and reconciliation,” said Director of Education Lisa Demers in a news release. “They honour the deep cultural roots of the Indigenous communities that surround our schools, while also celebrating the creativity and curiosity of our students. This is art with heart and a lasting legacy of learning and connection.”

The unveiling will take place throughout the morning and will include songs, prayer, artist introductions, and a short video documenting the creative process.
