Wallaceburg’s United Way Office Closing April 1

More details are being released about impending changes to the United Way of Chatham-Kent.

The agency says its Wallaceburg office will close its doors as of April 1st.

CEO Steve Pratt says the way people access services is changing, with more people using online or phone to connect, rather than coming to the office in person.

“‘We’re investing our dollars into more of an outreach model where we  can help connect to people where and how and when they need it,” Pratt says. “At the heart of it, we want to help people in the best way that we can.”

Pratt says the Community Navigator Program at the library offers many of the services that had been available at the United Way office, including providing social and health services information and referrals to community agencies.

However, he maintains the level of service for Wallaceburg won’t change, nor will the amount of money directed to the community.
