Walpole Island Man Facing Weapon, Drug Charges

A Walpole Island man is facing a long list of charges after being arrested twice within three days.

The Walpole Island Police Service stopped a vehicle on Friday at around 3 p.m. on Tecumseh Road for displaying a licence plate that had been reported stolen.

The driver was arrested and suspected fentanyl was seized.

And then on Monday at around 9:30 p.m., Walpole Island police attempted to stop the same driver on River Road for driving without a licence plate. However, the driver fled to a nearby residence where he was arrested.

Following a search, officers seized a loaded firearm and more suspected fentanyl.

Along with multiple Highway Traffic Act violations, a 58-year-old man from Walpole Island is now charged with the following offences:

The accused was remanded into custody following a bail hearing.
