Ward Boudaries Consulting Work Goes Over Budget

The company tasked with drafting Chatham-Kent’s new ward boundaries is asking for another $20,000 from the municipality.

Consulting firm StrategyCorp was hired in May 2024 to review the ward boundaries and council composition of Chatham-Kent at a price of $68,251.50, which would be paid through the strategic development reserve.

On October 7, 2024, StrategyCorp brought a preliminary report before council, outlining their findings and options regarding the size of council moving forward. Council requested that the company present two options at another meeting on November 4.

Company officials say the consultants presented before council two additional times, facilitated a public meeting, and spent more time on the project after the December 16  council meeting.

Council unanimously approved paying StrategyCorp for the extra work, increasing the total cost of for the ward boundaries work to $93,103.19.
