Repairs done to a number of leaks along Thames River dikes in West Kent near Jeannette’s Creek appear to be holding, according to Chatham-Kent officials.
Chatham-Kent General Manager, Infrastructure and Engineering Services, Thomas Kelly said municipal staff and contractors worked through much of the night in the vicinity of Poppe Road and Buchanan Line.
Staff from the municipality and the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) remain on site monitoring the situation
The water is going down, about a foot overnight, and most importantly near the ice jams.
The state of emergency remains in place, as the assessment continues.
If you have any concerns there is a 24 hour help line set up by the municipality. You can call 519-360-1998 for more information.
The mayor will have video posted on his Facebook page later today.
