Water Wells First Meeting Stirs Up Anger

Water Wells First is planning its next steps following the cancellation of tribunal proceedings against the North Kent Wind 1 project.

Kevin Jakubec of Water Wells First and landowner Laurier Cartier examine a clogged filter.

The group plans to get a full toxicology report on samples from affected wells in Dover Township, and spokesman Kevin Jakubec says their group may go as far as protesting construction.

“We’re going to be monitoring all these construction sites,” Jakubec says. “If we have wells that are coming in turbid, we’re going to shut down construction. You’re going to have civil disobedience.”

Nearly 200 people attended last night’s information meeting at Country View Golf Course, with many expressing anger at municipal officials, who have been accused of ignoring the problem.
