A local high school is opening its doors to future students this week.
An information night is being held at Wallaceburg District Secondary School Thursday evening, showcasing the school and its programs to any students in grades six through eight and their parents or guardians.
The evening runs from 6-8pm and will include information about heading into grade nine, a tour of the school, and more.
Meantime, officials with the Lambton Kent District School Board are touting the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program offered at WDSS, which provides over 700 hours of hands-on training, real-world clinical experience, and instruction from healthcare professionals.
Upon successful completion of the program, students earn credits towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma and receive additional certifications, such as First Aid/CPR and Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA.)
LKDSB officials say the program has been running for almost 15 years, and boasts a 98% job placement rate within two months of graduation.
