A Chatham man has been arrested after allegedly carrying a firearm down Grand Avenue East.

Police were called shortly before 8 o’clock Monday night after receiving complaints of a man seen running around the area with what appeared to be an AK47.

The man was found and officers discovered the weapon was an airsoft rifle resembling an automatic firearm. Authorities say the accused was already under a weapons prohibition order.

The 47-year-old has since been charged with weapons offences and was released with a future court date.
