A local health centre has unveiled a series of artworks at its Chatham office in an effort to make space more comfortable for those receiving care, especially children.

Four distinct pieces of artwork created by artist Evan Willick now adorn the walls of the Chatham site of Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres (CKCHC).

“We are honoured to have Evan Willick’s artwork and hope that it will inspire meaningful conversations and foster a greater understanding [of] the various care and services offered at CKCHC while adding to the healing and welcoming environment of the centre,” said CKCHC Executive Director Sherri Saunders in a news release.

Two of the artworks are displayed in the centre’s First Five Program and feature the children’s characters Elmo and Doc McStuffins.

According to the health centre officials, the artworks have already had a positive impact on children who are put at ease by the characters, which fosters positive communication during appointments.

The other two artworks entitled “Mind, body, and equality” and “Community” aim to evoke acceptance and promotion of the clinic.
