An event aimed at making immigrants and newcomers feel at home in the community is returning to Chatham-Kent.
The Chatham-Kent Local Immigration Partnership will host the fourth annual Chatham-Kent Welcome Week from September 13 to 21.
This week-long celebration will foster a sense of belonging for all Chatham-Kent residents with several festivities, beginning with a flag-raising ceremony at the Civic Centre on Friday at 12:30 p.m.
As well, the Chatham Capitol Theatre will host a Local Citizenship Ceremony on Tuesday and then on Thursday, the municipality will provide an information session tailored for newcomers at the Civic Centre in Council Chambers. The final day of Welcome Week on September 21 will see a Community Showcase event held at Kingston Park, which will celebrate local diversity and community spirit.
The Chatham-Kent Local Immigration Partnership is made up of 39 community organizations and stakeholders that develop and support the implementation of local settlement strategies.
